Privacy policy
Last updated: April 8, 2026. This page explains how Paceora handles data on the website and in the macOS app.
Data Collection
Paceora is a native macOS menu bar app that lets you control your WalkingPad, track sessions, and build a walking habit without leaving your desk workflow.
Paceora does not require an account and does not ask you to submit personal information through the website. The macOS app also works without creating an online account.
Cookies and Consent
The website shows a consent popup before it loads optional analytics or affiliate and referral tracking. Your choice is stored locally in your browser so we can remember it on future visits.
Necessary storage for site operation and consent preferences is always enabled. Optional tracking only loads if you allow it.
Analytics
If you allow analytics, the site loads Plausible Analytics to measure aggregate usage such as page views, referrers, and top pages.
Plausible is used in a privacy-focused way and does not need cookies for analytics, but we still treat it as optional and only load it after your consent.
Affiliate and Referral Tracking
If you allow affiliate and referral tracking, the site may load a third-party partner script that can transform eligible outbound product links into tracked referral links and record impressions or clicks for attribution.
Depending on the merchant and tracking flow, that process may involve cookies or similar identifiers managed by third parties. We do not use this site to build personal profiles of visitors ourselves.
Bluetooth Access
The macOS app requires Bluetooth access only for its core functionality. That permission is used solely to connect to supported treadmills, send control commands, and read workout data such as speed, distance, and steps.
Paceora communicates with your treadmill directly and does not send that device data to external services.
Local Data Storage
The app stores data locally on your Mac so it can work properly between sessions.
- Treadmill connection settings
- Workout history, including date, duration, distance, and steps
- App preferences such as keyboard shortcuts, units, reminders, and calibration
- Pending local workout snapshots used to recover an in-progress session
This data stays on your device. The first Mac App Store release does not sync workout history to external servers or cloud services.
Notifications
If you enable reminders or encouragement notifications, Paceora uses macOS local notifications to show those messages on your device.
These notifications are scheduled and delivered locally. They are not used to build user profiles or to send workout data to Paceora or any third party.
Third-Party Links
The landing page includes links to third-party services such as the App Store, Amazon, and merchant sites. Some outbound product links may be affiliate or referral links.
When you follow those links, the third-party site may collect data under its own privacy policy. Paceora does not control how those external services process your information.
Children's Privacy
Paceora is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13.
Managing Your Preferences
You can reopen your consent choices at any time by using the Cookie Settings button in the site footer.
Changes to This Policy
If this privacy policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page and the date above will be revised.
